I was skeptical and watchful after reading reviews of fire. I made sure my lamp had a ceramic base to screw the bulb into. I was blowing other night heat bulbs every 48 hours from pet store, bought this one and have had no issues and love that it emits no light. My beardie stays nice and warm at night.I think both of these within a week have failed no heat output not worth the materials are made of.These bulbs were bigger than what I had thought they were when I ordered them. When I ordered the lamp for these, they came with a smaller size or diameter UV bulb that has the similar shape to these bulbs. I figured they were going to be the same in size. Wrong! These heat bulbs are much larger, so they will require a heat shield or can for the bulb to be recessed in. To protect anyone who may be reaching around the bulb. Because they do and will burn you if they are on! They get very hot and burn on contact!!I switched over to this after I was tired of random burnt-out heating bulbs. I swapped this in and have not looked back, it seems to keep the temp at around 74F in my aquarium no matter the time of day.2 pack is a great value. It is being used for my bearded dragon.This lamp gets hot and does not give off any light which was ideal in my son's room at night. The temperature seems to consistent when we have checked it on the thermometer a few random times. We have only had the lamp a few weeks so I can't speak extensively to longevity, but so far so good.Let's start off by saying this lamp is absolutely hot to the touch and when it is in your light socket. The heat on it is okay sometimes my room gets a little colder and I don't like to let my bearded dragons tank drop below 65. They say between like 65 and 70 is the perfect temperature. I think it is better for smaller cages. I think as it gets hotter though the light definitely works better.Very long lasting, gives off plenty of heat. Is not adjustable
