Usually my hens freely roam the yard during the day but we were seeding a large portion so they were confined to a smaller (but reasonably sized) area for two weeks. The only thing wrong with the smaller yard area was the lack of a dust bath bathing station for them. I combined these ingredients in a large cat litter tray to make the ultimate dust bath: dried herbs (lavender and rosemary), cinnamon, soil from their favorite existing dust bath spot in my garden, sand and food grade diatomaceous earth. I have no idea what is in it, so I will be adding some sand and DE to make it thicker. Bag there for $19.00. The Lixit brand comes in a cute reusable jug, so i gave a star for that, but $ 15.00 for 5.5 lbs. Is extremely high. Even with a cute reusable jug. They are making a killing on that stuff! I love it. I use it in my chicken coop and in their dust bath. But, now that i found it at Tractor Supply for such a good deal, i'll be buying it from them now.Chickens love it, it's just so expensive for the amount in the tub.. But as said the girls prefer this to others I've tried.my bantams love it,
