The complete layer feed is ideal for chickens and guineas, providing nourishing botanicals and probiotic strains for digestive health, Omega-3 fatty acids and added calcium for high-quality egg production. Our layer feed pellets are combined with whole and cracked grains and seeds minimizing dust that creates a powdery mess in chicken pen feeders. Made in the USA, each ingredient in our non-GMO layer feed is locally sourced in the Pacific Northwest to ensure consistency and quality in every batch.

Great feed I just wish it was a little lessI bought this for my chickens but they don't seem to like it at the moment. It's very different in appearance from what they're used to (standard pellets) so that's probably why. It appears to be healthy for them so for now I'm just mixing it with their standard food. Hoping they will warm up to it.Just got the feed and was very surprised it is loose in a box, not the bag as pictured. This is misleading. I can understand that there’s shortages and higher costs and not packing into bags may even save the consumer money, but tell me it’s loose in a cardboard box.My chickens free range and they prefer that over their store bought feed. Even when offered this feed, their responses were ehh, so so, and off they went. It’s winter now and I have 3 chickens 2 of which are laying everyday and sometimes 2 eggs a day. I can’t believe it!This feed does look good and smells good. Takes time to judge whether it will make my girls better layers. Our 3 chickens give it 5 stars! ???I started to get poor results from Purina's Layena -- mostly because my chickens didn't want to eat it and were eating too much scratch and bird seed. I had to cut out the scratch and bird seed, but decided to try a different feed they might like better than Layena. I bought a bag of Small Pet Select and a bag of Prarie's Choice. The chickens prefer Prarie's Choice, but that doesn't necessarily mean its better. They prefer bird seed or cooked rice even more, but those things don't make a good diet for them. Prarie's Choice is a crumble type feed similar to Layena crumbles in texture, but it appears to be more appetizing. This Small Pet Select has a combination of seeds, grain, and small pellets (smaller than Layena pellets which are quite large). The chickens seem to pick the grain and leave the pellets. I understand the idea to withold more feed until they eat the pellets too like "you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat." Overall, it seems like a high quality feed and quite appropriate for backyard chickens where one can afford a gourmet feed. Small Pet Select offered a 1 pound bag of grub bugs to write this review, but I bought and paid for the feed and received no incentives for that purchase.Very fresh product and feel confident with the ingredients as well.Initially I purchased food at our feed store in town. Same color, nothing exciting in it, but was told it had all they needs for their nutrition. However, I couldn’t identify what it was made from. It broke down like powder. After ordering this brand, wow! What a difference. I can recognize what’s in it. Colorful ,fresh and looks healthy. My chickens love it- Orpingtons- and have no problem with the dried peas. They tend to pick out all the stuff but leave the pellets. However, I don’t refill until pellets are gone to insure they’re getting all the nutrition intended. They eventually eat it, and so far, I’m very happy with the product. It gives me peace of mind knowing their food is fresh, wholesome and non gmo with no corn. What’s fantastic is I can actually see and identify what’s in it. I only have two, so for the price, it works fine for us. Keeps my sweet girls happy and healthy. So wonderful to support a small business, and receiving a quality product in exchange. A win win.My chickens seem to love this stuff and it has a lot of protein and grains which are good. I will likely try this feed again because I think I got a bad box of it. There are solid chunks where it seems like this stuff got wet somehow. If they would put the feed in a plastic bag in the box instead of just the box it would probably solve this issue. If the next box is the same I will have to go back to feeding something else.
