I needed something to help with a leaf removal issue in my 50’x15’ plot of Thorndale Ivy. Each spring, I would spend a few hours raking leaves out of the ivy. This was tedious work and raking was hard on the ivy. After reading some reviews and seeing how this bird netting was used to protect backyard ponds, I decided to give it try. Early autumn, before leaves began to fall, I spread this netting over the ivy which is planted underneath several trees. The black netting was virtually invisible. So, my landscaping appears undisturbed. Its near mid-November and I wanted to do a test as quite a few leaves had fallen. I pulled the netting back, dumped the leaves in the yard for removal, and was delighted to see my ivy clear as the day I covered it. And the netting was not damaged. I then re-covered the ivy to await all leaves to fall from our trees (shown in pic). Test passed! Now, there are a few caveats and tips that I learned. 1) It requires at least two people get the netting in place and for removal. 2) You should spread the netting out completely before attempting to put it into place. 3) Leaves, twigs, and small branches will get entangled in the netting. Branches and twigs should be broken and removed as to not damage the net. Stretching the net will free random leaves. 4) The orange ties on each corner of the net are important markers but not intended for hefty pulling. 5) Given the netting was not damaged, I plan to roll it back up for use next season. I will report results on this later.Lastly, for my use, I gave a 5-star rating as I am thoroughly pleased with this product. Noting that it does take a fair amount of work and care but nothing like the time raking and damage to my ivy.
